🚑 View Full Case DetailsOn 2nd October 2021, at around 6:50 PM, Mr. Ilavarasan (46-year-old male), a bus conductor, met with a tragic road traffic accident while returning home on his two-wheeler after completing his shift.
He collided with an over-speeding vehicle coming from the opposite direction and sustained severe injuries. He was initially taken to Cuddalore Government Hospital, where first aid and emergency treatment were provided. Due to the severity of his injuries, his family decided to shift him to POSH Hospital for advanced multi-specialty care.
"Three major injuries in one accident — the survival of all three limbs depended on how fast the teams could coordinate and act."
On arrival, comprehensive imaging and clinical evaluation confirmed three simultaneous injuries requiring immediate multi-specialty surgical management.
Patient arrived after initial stabilization at Cuddalore Government Hospital. Emergency assessment and imaging performed.
Stage 1: Wound debridement + K-wire fixation by Plastic Surgery (Dr. Vijayaraghavan). Stage 2: ORIF clavicle plating by Orthopaedics (Dr. V. Veerappan).
Wound appeared healthy. External fixation of right ankle along with flap cover of right foot performed by the Plastic Surgery Team.
Patient discharged with oral medications, wound care instructions, and physiotherapy guidance. Scheduled for follow-up and external fixator removal.
Readmitted for external fixator removal. Aggressive physiotherapy initiated by Chief Physiotherapist Dr. Murugaraj and team for full functional recovery.
"Three devastating injuries. One surgical night. Zero amputations. All limbs saved — the power of coordinated multi-specialty trauma care."
All three injuries were successfully managed in a single comprehensive surgical session. The forefoot vascularity was restored with complete bone healing, the near-amputated finger was successfully reattached with full function, and the clavicle fracture healed with anatomical alignment. Mr. Ilavarasan achieved full functional recovery of all affected limbs.
